We offer Classical Ballet exams in the Royal Academy Of Dance R.A.D Syllabus. Students are encouraged to participate in completing these examinations from Pre Primary through to grade 8 and vocational examinations of Intermediate to Advanced 2.
All students are required to attend at least one Ballet class a week if wishing to perform in competition work. Students will be assessed and placed into appropriate classes.
Students wishing to aim for an exam are required to do a minimum of 2 classes per week. However only selected students who we feel are ready will be able to enter exam. The R.A.D sets a very high standard withing which we pride our students for doing well and achieving the highest marks.
Selected students will also be asked to participate in various work shops through out Victoria, such as the VCA winter workshops, Tania Peason workshops, Guest workshops and the Attitudes pre-exam workshops.
R.A.D classes are compulsory for all students wishing to compete, as this is the backbone to all forms of dance.
Students who do not want to enter exams or compete have the option of participating in RAD classes for technique only.
Note:
Uniforms and headpieces for exams are to be hired from the studio when students are selected to enter exams. Cost is $30 in which $15 is refunded upon uniform return.
Students in competition classes will be entered three times a year. Performances run on Sundays of 1st term & the end of term 2 & 3 in the first week of school holidays.
Students must notify us immediately if they cannot commit to these dates, at least 2 months notice must be given prior to competition.
Students will be charged $4 per troupe entry at any competition they are entered in. This covers the cost of student entry, student passes, student solo CD's, troupe lighting, smoke machine, cloth back drop, prop transportation and extra troupe rehearsals during comp time. This fee is spread evenly between comp costs.
Students are required to attend all stage rehearsals for competition work. This is for safety purposes as well as stage craft, awareness and technique. These are compulsory rehearsals and cannot be missed
Cost of stage rehearsal varies from venues, as venue hire also varies. Family discounts will be given.
